Shopify SEO Audit Service

Find out what is holding your Shopify store back in Google. We check duplicate product and collection URLs, theme and app issues, structured data, speed and indexing, then explain what to fix first.

When a Shopify SEO audit makes sense

Shopify takes care of hosting, security and a lot of technical basics, but it also has its own SEO pitfalls. An audit is worth it when:

  • Product or collection pages are not showing in Google, or the wrong URL appears.
  • Organic traffic or sales from search have dropped after a theme change, migration or new apps.
  • You moved to Shopify from another platform and are not sure every old URL was redirected.
  • The store feels slow, especially on mobile.
  • Search Console reports duplicate, excluded or “crawled – currently not indexed” pages.

What we check

Duplicate and multiple URLs

Shopify can show the same product under several URLs, for example through collection paths, and filtered or tagged collection pages can multiply quickly. We check canonical tags, internal links and which versions Google is actually indexing.

Collections, products and pages

Titles, meta descriptions, headings, product and collection descriptions, image alt text, and copy duplicated from suppliers or across similar products.

Theme and apps

Scripts and code added by apps, including leftovers from apps you no longer use, theme features that create extra URLs or hide content, and how all of this affects speed and crawling.

Indexing, sitemap and robots.txt

Shopify generates the sitemap automatically. We compare it with what Google indexes, review the robots.txt rules, and check Search Console for errors and excluded pages.

Redirects and migrations

URL redirects after changing product handles, removing products or moving from another platform, plus broken internal links and 404 errors.

Structured data and speed

Product structured data from your theme and apps, Core Web Vitals, image sizes and the impact of third-party scripts.

What you receive

  • Prioritised findings: what to fix first, what can wait, and what is not worth worrying about.
  • Plain-English explanations of each issue and why it matters for your store.
  • Practical next steps you can carry out in Shopify, hand to your developer, or ask us to do.

How it works

  1. Discover: tell us about your store and goals through the free audit form.
  2. Audit: we review the store and, where you grant access, Google Search Console and analytics.
  3. Optimise: you choose whether to fix issues yourself or have us fix them. Fix work is quoted after we have reviewed the store.
  4. Monitor: we check that the changes are picked up by search engines.

Honest expectations

An audit shows what is getting in the way; it does not guarantee rankings or sales. Search results depend on competition, products, content and many factors outside any store owner’s control. We focus on fixing the technical and on-page problems you can control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Shopify bad for SEO?

No. Shopify handles many technical basics well, such as hosting, HTTPS and an automatic sitemap. Most problems come from duplicate URLs, thin or copied product content, app and theme code, and missing redirects, which can all be improved.

Do you need access to my Shopify admin?

Not for the first audit: we start from your public store. If you want us to make changes, you can invite us as a staff member or approve a collaborator request in Shopify, so you never need to share your own password.

Will removing apps make my store faster?

Often, yes, but not always. Some apps leave code behind after they are uninstalled, and others are needed for your business. The audit shows which scripts actually slow the store down.

Will fixing the issues get my products to page one of Google?

No one can honestly promise that. Fixing technical and on-page issues removes obstacles so your products and collections can be crawled, indexed and understood properly, which gives them a fair chance to compete.
